The single largest component in Malaysia's landfills isn't plastic or paper—it's organic waste.
Up to half of all material we bury is organic matter that could have been returned to the earth or reused.

This anaerobic process releases Methane . Methane is a greenhouse gas over 25 times more potent than carbon dioxide in warming the planet over a 100-year period.

The high moisture content in food waste creates leachate—a highly toxic liquid that can contaminate groundwater and soil if the landfill lining fails.

Every kilogram of food waste buried in a landfill is a waste of the water, energy, and land used to produce, transport, and process that food.
1. Shop Smarter:
Stop Waste at the Source. Only buy what you truly need. Check your fridge before you shop and freeze items nearing their expiry date.
2. Love Your Leftovers:
Save Resources. Repurpose leftovers into the next day's lunch or dinner. You save money, time, and the water/energy used to produce that food.
3. Start Separating:
Turn Trash into Treasure. Keep a small container in your kitchen for food scraps (peels, coffee grounds, eggshells). This waste can be easily composted and turned into rich fertiliser instead of landfill pollution!
